NeilThese questions are very difficult to answer as I can have a favourite track or album every 10 minutes or so. However, I will try.
These are my answers at 10.15 on 30/07/2024. It will be different by 10.30..... 1. Best side one, track one of all time: 'No Strings (Intro)' - Roots Manuva from the album, Run Come Save Me This is effectively just a short intro to the album, containing elements of the song, 'Dreamy Days' which appears later. However, it sets the scene in an ethereal way before heading into 'Bashment Boogie' and then the massive 'Witness (1 Hope)' 2. How do you organise your records? Chronological? Alphabetical? AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL? Most 10/12" singles/albums in alphabetical order. More recent ones and more often used ones in their own section and some, 'work in progress' dotted around the floor. Japan (the band)-related records in their own section (for a project) 7" records, some in alphabetical order, but these have become dispersed over the years. Some 'special' ones in specific boxes, and others, in no particular order in 'a basket'. From 1977 until 2007 I used to write down all my records (and CDs) in a notebook, in chronological order of purchase. 3. What is your favourite vinyl/music-related movie quote? Struggling with this one. I don't watch films as much as I used to. And can't think of anything related, at least as a quote. So, I'm missing the point somewhat, with this answer, but this is what sprung to mind. Koyaanisqatsi is a musical/visual statement by Godfrey Reggio, music by Philip Glass about life out of balance. I have it on DVD and music on CD. I can only find the vinyl for about £75. (Another answer for question 4). 4. What is your white whale album? Snowborne Sorrow by Nine Horses. I already have it on CD. I missed it on Record Store Day, 2024. Will wait for a reissue some time. 5. What is no-skip, all killer no filler album in your collection? Virtue by The Voidz 6. Best album closer of all time? 'The Other Side of Life' - Japan, from Quiet Life |
